Everything’s terrifyingly terrific, from the jalapeño mummies to the bewitching Halloween brownies.
Headed to a Halloween party with no idea what to bring? These recipes can help.
This list includes desserts, drinks, appetizers, and more!
Turn a regular cheese ball into a cheese ball mummy. Or transform breadsticks into witches’ fingers.
There’s no limit to the Halloween potluck recipes you can create. And this list has 30 options to start you off right.
1. Easy Halloween Jalapeño Mummies
Do you enjoy jalapeno poppers? If so, you’ll love jalapeno mummies. They’re jalapeno poppers with a buttery crescent roll cover and fun googly eyes.
(They could just easily be jalapeno ninjas!)
They’re cheesy, garlicky, and devilishly spicy. Don’t worry, though. The thick, tender crescent roll ‘mummy wraps’ help tone down much of the heat.
2. Salted Toffee Caramel Halloween Apples
Caramel and candy-coated apples are a Halloween staple.
And while candied apples are pretty tasty, the caramel-covered ones are better (in my opinion).
They’re sweet, salty, and tart with tons of flavor.
Serve them with a few Halloween whiskey cocktails, and you’re grown-up guests will swoon!
3. Dia De Los Muertos Hummus Dip
This colorful hummus is really for Dia de Los Muertos. However, the lovely sugar skull design works just as well for Halloween.
Start with store-bought hummus, or make your own. This recipe is really all about the decorating.
Still, adding tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc., to hummus enhances the flavor. So it’s a win-win either way.
4. Halloween Deviled Eggs
Here’s another fun recipe that’s all about the presentation. Use the deviled egg recipe provided or your usual favorite.
Then, add the carefully cut and placed black olives for spiders. The briny olives pair well with the tangy deviled eggs. However, they’re easy to remove if people don’t like them.
5. White Sangria
This light, bright sangria features yellow and orange fall colors and tastes incredible. It’s citrusy and full of your favorite tropical fruit (pineapples and mangoes).
Unlike some sangria recipes, it doesn’t take long to make either. You can have it ready in about 20 minutes. (Of course, the longer you leave it, the boozier the fruit will be.)
6. Snakewich with Venom Sauce
This cutesy snake is too adorable to be scary. That doesn’t mean it’s still not a great Halloween option.
The trick to making it is to shape the bread correctly. Then, add cucumbers and olives for the eyes and tomatoes and peppers for the mouth and tongue.
The spicy, garlicky venom sauce is a nice addition, too. It’s so tasty that you’ll want to serve it with all of your sandwiches.
7. Witch Fingers Breadsticks
Who knew adding almonds to breadsticks could make them look so creepy?
These tender, chewy breadsticks are unbelievably delicious. Whether sliced or whole, the almonds on the end look like scary fingernails, though.
Serve them with a red sauce for an even bloodier Halloween treat.
8. Candy Corn Cake Mix Cookies
These four-ingredient cake mix cookies are soft, chewy, and full of sugary candy corn.
You can make them in 20 minutes, and they’ll practically melt in your mouth.
9. Halloween Hot Dog Mummies
These Halloween mummies look a lot like the jalapeno mummies above. However, these might be the better option if heat isn’t your thing.
These are thick, juicy hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll “bandages.” Make it a fun activity for everyone by getting the kids involved.
10. Cheese Ball Mummy
You can use your favorite cheese ball for this cheese ball mummy. That’s the great thing about it.
I often substitute my herb cheese ball for the recipe here. However, this one isn’t bad either. It features three types of cheese, onions, peppers, bacon, and more.
It’s hearty and flavorful, and everyone will love it.
The important thing is shaping and decorating it correctly. Do it right, and you’ll have an adorable, supremely cheesy Halloween mummy.
11. Mummy Brie
Okay, guys. I know how this must look. However, I promise I don’t love mummies more than other Halloween creatures. I’m an equal opportunity Halloween creature lover.
It’s just so easy to turn food into mummies!
With that in mind, let’s check out this Brie mummy. It features all the delicious flavor of sweet, buttery, baked brie. You’ll just wrap it in puff pastry dough and add apples and nuts for the eyes.
Easy peasy and super scrumptious.
12. Dirt Pudding
Dirt pudding is the perfect mixture of sweetness and tangy cream cheese. It’s layers of velvety smooth pudding and crunchy crushed Oreos.
Add some gummy worms for spooky flair and they’re sure to be a hit.
You could even stick a few Halloween cake pops on the top to make them extra festive!
13. Pumpkin Dirt Pudding (Graveyard Parfaits)
Here’s a variation on dirt pudding for those who love pumpkin. These taste just as fantastic and feature the same complementary textures.
However, the pumpkin puree adds a lovely orange color. Plus, there’s plenty of rich pumpkin flavor, as well.
14. Witches Brew Spumoni Trifle
Witches brew trifle looks totally gross and unappetizing. Unless you’re a kid on Halloween, of course! Then it’s pretty much perfect!
It’s a multi-layered trifle featuring pistachio pudding, cake, whipped cream, and more. You’ll decorate it with minty fresh bubbles, eyeballs, and Jello worms.
It’s super freaky looking and takes a little time to prepare. Even so, it’s sure to be a massive hit at any Halloween party. Even the adults may go a little nuts for it.
15. Halloween Poison Apple Jell-O
Planning a 21 and up Halloween party? These poison apple Jello shots are a must. You’ll make them with five simple ingredients in about 15 minutes.
They have a bright, tart flavor featuring apples and lime. They aren’t too strong, either. So you can knock back a few before worrying about getting tipsy.
16. Sweet and Sour ‘Bat’ Wings
Don’t panic! These are just chicken wings!
It’s the black food coloring that makes them look just like bat wings. That’s why they’re perfect for Halloween.
They’re tender and have a wonderful sweet-n-sour Asian flavor. They require fewer than ten ingredients and only 5 minutes of prep time.
17. Halloween Graveyard Chocolate Cheesecake Dip
This might be the most lovely graveyard you’ve ever seen. It’s full of tombstones, pumpkins, and googly eyes. Even so, it’s absolutely adorable.
It’s also sweet, tangy, and very rich. It’s basically an Oreo-enhanced cream cheese dip. Once you try your first bite, you won’t want to stop.
18. Graveyard Chorizo Dip
Graveyard chorizo dip isn’t as attractive as the Halloween graveyard above. It’s just as delicious in a savory way, though.
Don’t forget the Halloween-shaped tortilla chips. Those make all the difference!
19. Pumpkin Black Bean Dip
At first glance, pumpkin black bean dip doesn’t look all that appealing. It’s thick, brown, and looks a little like baby food.
Fortunately, it tastes better than it looks. It’s smoky, tangy, and full of flavorful seasonings.
Best of all, it takes just 5 minutes to prepare. Check it out if you need something fast and easy.
20. Spooky Black Bean Hummus
Black bean hummus has an eerie black color and looks remarkably festive. Like the black bean dip, it takes almost no time or effort to make.
It’s nutritious, vegan-friendly, and has a luscious texture. Be sure you add the chipotle sauce slowly. Otherwise, you’ll make it too bitter.
21. Halloween Punch
Halloween punch is bright orange, fruity, and alcohol-free. You can whip it up in mere moments with four simple ingredients.
Combine orange Fanta with Sprite, then add a can of pineapple juice. Pour the mixture over orange sherbet, and you’re all set!
22. Mad Scientist Punch
Mad scientist punch is quite similar to Halloween punch. It features the same bright orange color and sweet and zesty flavor.
This one uses orange Kool-Aid instead of Fanta, though. I think it makes it a little sweeter than Halloween punch. However, both taste great.
23. Halloween Owl Cupcakes
These cute owl cupcakes are unbelievably sweet and so easy to make. You can even start with store-bought cupcakes to reduce time and effort.
You’ll turn each cupcake – homemade or store-bought – into big-eyed owls.
All you’ll need to do it are Oreos, black decorating gel, and M&Ms. (Reese’s Pieces would also work.)
24. Halloween Jack O’Lantern Candy Cupcake
Everything about these chocolate, candy-filled cupcakes is fantastic. They’re sugary sweet, chocolatey, and filled with candy like a pinata.
Plop them in dessert cups and draw Jack O’Lantern faces on them. Kids and adults both will go crazy for them. (They make lovely take-home party favors, too.)
25. Bewitched Marble Cupcakes
These multi-colored cupcakes are gorgeous and perfect for most occasions. The wealth of bright, candy-like colors makes them ideal for Halloween.
They’d also work for space-themed parties, rainbow parties, and more. When cupcakes are this light, fluffy, and lovely, you can make them work for anything.
26. Halloween Popcorn Balls
These Halloween popcorn balls almost look like slime-covered balls of goo.
Luckily, though, they taste scrumptious. They’re crunchy, sweet, festive, and fun.
Serve them at your next Halloween potluck. Or wrap them in pretty cellophane and give them out as homemade treats.
27. Halloween Brownies
There are so many fun ways to make Halloween brownies. This recipe gives you three great options.
You can make spooky brownies, ghost brownies, or Cousin It brownies.
The Cousin It ones are my favorite, but I’m a huge Addams Family fan. Make your favorite, or make all three.
One is just as easy as the others. Either way, they’re super tasty.
28. Halloween Sugar Cookies
Like many options here, these are pretty and look perfect for Halloween. That’s not all they have going for them, of course.
They’re also ridiculously soft and taste soooo good. They’re rich, sweet, and a little bit nutty.
It also takes less than 20 minutes to make two dozen. It’s hard to beat that math.
29. Ghost Pretzels
I’ve never met anyone who didn’t love covered pretzels. This recipe recommends covering them in melted vanilla milk chips.
However, you can also use vanilla almond bark or your favorite white chocolate bars.
Of course, that just leaves you with covered pretzels. They’re delectable, but there’s nothing super Halloweeny about them.
That’s where the candy eyeballs come into play.
Stick one of those in each of the top two twist holes. Leave the bottom hole empty. Together, that combo makes a delightfully fun screaming ghost face!
30. Halloween Candy Bark
Sweet and salty. Crunchy and smooth. Chocolatey and peanut buttery.
That’s what this no-bake Halloween candy bark is! Actually, it’s all of that and more. And you’ll only need six ingredients to make it.
It’s an incredible, no-bake dessert that features layer upon layer of yumminess. You’ll start with a decadent layer of melted chocolate.
Then, you’ll add broken chunks of pretzels, Reese’s cups, and Snickers. Cover that messy, marvelous mixture with melted white chocolate.
That seems like enough, right? You won’t stop there, though. You’ll top all that with your choice of M&Ms or Reese’s Pieces.
Then, stick it in the fridge and let it chill until it hardens. It’s a straightforward process that shouldn’t take more than 10-20 minutes.
Once it hardens, break it into pieces and use it to delight your guests.
